Apple Crumble (Gluten, Dairy and Egg-Free)
A delicious apple crumble made without gluten. My son was intolerant of coconut, so it is also free of that, using flaked almonds instead. In place of the self-raising flour you can simply add 3 teaspoons of gluten-free baking powder to 1 1/2 cups of any all purpose gluten-free flour mix.

Cook's notes
- For the best texture, use a mix of tart and sweet apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.
- Ensure your gluten-free oats are certified GF to keep the recipe strictly safe for celiacs.
- If you prefer a crunchier topping, bake the crumble for an additional 5 minutes or switch to broil for the final minute.
- Serve warm with a scoop of dairy-free vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of coconut yogurt.
Easy swaps
- Use almond flour or a 1:1 gluten-free all-purpose flour blend if you don't have oat flour.
- Replace brown sugar with coconut sugar for a lower glycemic index alternative.
- Swap melted vegan butter for refined coconut oil for a slightly tropical flavor profile.
- Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping mixture for an extra nutty crunch.
