Frequently asked

Can I use pre-cooked noodles instead of rice?

Yes, this recipe works well with chow mein noodles or lo mein. Cook noodles separately and toss them in during the last minute.

Is it possible to make this dish vegetarian?

Absolutely. Replace beef with firm tofu or tempeh, and use mushroom-based fish sauce alternative.

What if I don't have a wok?

A large skillet or cast-iron pan works fine. Just ensure it is very hot before adding ingredients.

How can I reduce the spiciness?

Omit or reduce the black pepper and any chili flakes. The recipe as written has a mild kick.
