'Good for You' Berry Truffles
This is just the thing for when you get a chocolate craving but don't want to go for anything too unhealthy. Creamy smooth, deep chocolate flavor with a hint of berry. Very easy to make, and pretty much guilt-free! I used only about 10 dates and added stevia to taste so there would be less sugars.

These 'Good for You' Berry Truffles offer a vibrant, fruit-forward alternative to traditional chocolate confections. Perfect for a quick, single-serving pick-me-up, they rely on the natural sweetness of dates and the bright acidity of frozen berries to create a gourmet bite in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving
- 2 walnuts
- 1 dates
- 1 frozen raspberries
- 1/4 frozen blueberries
- cocoa powder
- walnuts
- coconut
Method
Blend all, except crushed walnut or coconut, in a food processor, scraping sides occasionally till the mixture is smooth.
Shape into small balls and roll in walnut or coconut.
Store in refrigerator.
Cook's notes
- Use a high-powered blender or a small-capacity food processor to ensure the fibrous date and walnut blend becomes a cohesive dough.
- Thoroughly pat the frozen berries dry with a paper towel before blending to prevent the truffle mixture from becoming too runny.
- If the mixture feels too sticky to roll, place the bowl in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to firm up the nut oils before shaping.
- Toast your walnuts lightly in a dry pan before crushing them to add a deeper, earthier aroma to your exterior coating.
Easy swaps
- Instead of Walnuts, use Raw cashewsCashews provide a creamier, more neutral base that allows the tartness of the berries to shine.
- Instead of Dates, use Dried mission figsFigs offer a similar chewy texture and binding ability but provide a milder, honey-like sweetness.
- Instead of Frozen raspberries/blueberries, use Freeze-dried strawberriesUsing freeze-dried fruit removes excess moisture, creating a more intense, candy-like berry punch.
- Instead of Coconut, use Hemp seedsHemp seeds offer a nuttier, more subtle crunch if you prefer to avoid the texture of shredded coconut.
Frequently asked
Can I double this recipe for more servings?
Yes, simply multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you desire, but ensure your food processor is large enough to handle the volume.
Why is my truffle mixture turning into a paste?
This likely means the dates were over-processed or the berries were too wet. Try adding an extra walnut to absorb excess moisture.
Do I need to soak the dates first?
Only if your dates are particularly dry or hard. If they are soft and pliable, you can blend them immediately.
Can I roll these in anything else?
Absolutely. Try cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavor, sesame seeds for nuttiness, or crushed freeze-dried raspberries for a vibrant color.
