Ingredients
Makes 24 servings
- 1 butter
- 3/4 light brown sugar
- 1 granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 flour
- 1 salt
- 1 baking soda
Method
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together with a mixer until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
In medium bowl mix the flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined.
With a cookie scoop, form balls with the dough.
Place one ball on top of an Oreo cookie, and another ball on the bottom. Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo cookie is fully enclosed with dough.
Place onto parchment or silpat lined baking sheets and bake cookies for approximately 13 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
Cook's notes
- For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading.
- Use a cookie scoop to ensure even-sized dough balls for consistent baking.
- Press the dough firmly around the Oreo to seal completely, preventing the cookie from leaking during baking.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to set the centers.
Frequently asked
Can I use salted butter instead of unsalted?
Yes, but reduce the added salt to 1/2 teaspoon to avoid over-salting.
Can I substitute the Oreos with another sandwich cookie?
Absolutely. Any similar-sized sandwich cookie will work, but adjust bake time slightly if the cookie is thicker or thinner.
How do I prevent the cookies from spreading too much?
Chill the dough balls for at least 15 minutes before baking. Also, ensure your butter is softened but not melted.
Can I make these gluten-free?
Yes, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend and check that your Oreos are gluten-free (original Oreos are not certified gluten-free, but gluten-free versions are available).
